DA to Probe Ads Targeting Democratic Senate Hopeful

Campaign ads portraying Democratic Senate District 11 candidate John Morse as an incompetent police chief will be investigated by the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office. Morse, who's opposing incumbent Republican Ed Jones, filed a complaint Tuesday, alleging a political organization backed by Gov. Bill Owens broke a law that bars "knowingly" using false statements in campaign advertising.

Dem Candidate Asks for Criminal Probe of GOP Group

A Democratic Senate candidate has asked the El Paso County district attorney to prosecute a Republican political organization founded by the governor over an attack ad that rips the candidate's record as police chief of Fountain. John Morse said Tuesday that he takes no joy in the fact that TV and radio stations now are refusing to air the ad, which he says falsely criticizes his handling of a specific case.
